PHOF indicators on which Barnet performs worse or lower than England
This section discusses those indicators from the Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF)[1] which are significantly worse in Barnet compared to England.
Wider Determinants
In 2017/18, there were 2,579 Barnet households in temporary accommodation. Figure 1 shows the number of households in temporary accommodation per 1,000 households for 2017/18. On this measure of statutory homelessness, Barnet (16.7 per 1,000) is significantly worse than both London (14.9 / 1,000) and England (3.4 / 1,000).[2]

Health Improvement
In 2016/17, the percentage of physically active adults in Barnet (59.8%) was significantly lower than both London (64.6%) and England ( 66.0%)(see Figure 5.15 in the Lifestyle chapter of the JSNA).[3] Similarly, the percentage of physically inactive adults in the borough (28.6%) was significantly higher than both London (22.9%) and England (22.2%)%)(see Figure 5.16 in the Lifestyle chapter).[4]
For Barnet in 2017, the percentage of eligible women adequately screened for breast cancer was 68.9%, which was significantly lower than England (75.4%), but similar to the London average (69.4%)(see Figure 4.8 in the Health chapter of the JSNA).[5] However, for cervical cancer screening, the percentage of eligible Barnet women adequately screened in 2017 was 63.9%, which was significantly lower than both London (65.7%) and England (72.0%)(see Figure 2).[6]

Health Protection
The Chlamydia detection rate for people aged 15-24 years in Barnet was 1,468 per 100,000 in 2017, which was significantly lower than both London (2,199 / 100,000) and England (1,882 / 100,000)(see Figure 5.30 in the Lifestyle chapter of the JSNA).[8]
The incidence of tuberculosis in Barnet during 2015-17 was 18.4 per 100,000, which was significantly higher than the England average (9.9 / 100,000), but significantly lower than the London average for that period (24.3 / 100,000)(refer to Figure 4).[9]
